Experiência e percepção do estigma relacionado ao HIV em homens com orientação homossexual

Antecedentes: O estigma relacionado ao HIV está associado a consequências negativas para a saúde e qualidade de vida das pessoas com HIV. Interage com estigmas pré-existentes, como o relacionado à orientação sexual, o que intensifica seu impacto nocivo. Objetivo: O objetivo foi descrever como o estigma relacionado ao HIV é expresso em Buenos Aires, Argentina, sob a perspectiva de homens cisgênero com orientação homossexual, e como é vivenciado por eles. Método: Foi realizado um estudo qualitativo com entrevistas a 14 participantes, analisadas a partir dos mecanismos do estigma: experimentação, antecipação e internalização. Resultados: O estigma vivenciado foi observado, principalmente, como rejeição direta nas relações afetivo-sexuais, revelação do diagnóstico sem o consentimento da pessoa e afastamento ou evitação do contato com ele. O estigma antecipado foi expresso como medo de ser discriminado, não revelação do diagnóstico aos outros e auto-exclusão. O estigma internalizado foi evidenciado como autoconceito negativo, vergonha e culpa. Interações entre os estigmas por HIV e orientação sexual foram observadas. Conclusões: Estes resultados permitem avançar na caracterização da experiência de estigma relacionado ao HIV em Buenos Aires, o que contribui para o desenho de intervenções para sua redução ajustadas à cultura e necessidades de grupos específicos.
